As a non-profit organization, we survive due to the generosity of individuals, corporations, and foundations that are committed to seeing the collections of the Western Foundation last in perpetuity and remain available to researchers, educators, students, scientific artists, and the general public.

Our Current Wish List
The following items represent our most pressing program needs at this time. If you are interested in supporting the Western Foundation, please consider making a donation to address one of these items:
1. Acrylic boxes: many of our live-mount specimens still need boxes to protect them from dust. Priced from $50 to $500 depending on the size of the bird specimen, any donation toward the boxes would be very helpful!
2. The Ed N. Harrison Memorial Scholarship Fund: The WFVZ gives one $300 scholarship annually to graduate students conducting research that will lead directly to the conservation of breeding bird species in Latin America. If you are interested in contributing to this fund, please note that 100% of your donation will go toward the scholarship fund. No money will be spent on Western Foundation operating expenses or other projects. In addition, since the Western Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization, any donations made to the Ed N. Harrison Memorial Scholarship Fund are tax-deductible.
3. The Guatemala Bird Project of the WFVZ involves inventorying and monitoring breeding and wintering birds in Guatemala, training Guatemalan biology students and college faculty in bird monitoring and museum curation techniques, and assisting Guatemalans with the improvement of their water quality and the conservation of their native thorn-scrub vegetation. As part of our fundraising for this project, we purchase textiles, jewelry, and other items from Mayan and Ladino Guatemalans, to help put money into their economy, and to support our work there. If you like our project, we encourage you to visit our on-line Gift Store to see our Guatemalan items for sale, or to make a donation to the WFVZ at any level. Every dollar helps!
