AMERICAN
BIRDING ASSOCIATION FIELD TRIP
On 10 October 2006, the Western Foundation welcomed
members of the American Birding Association (ABA) as part of
their annual regional meeting which was held in nearby Ventura.
Dr. Linnea Hall gave a short presentation on the importance
of specimen collections and preservation to both ornithologists
and the birding community. Carol Langford, President of Conejo
Valley Audubon Society, also spoke about the importance of the
birdwatching public joining with places such as the WFVZ and
other natural history museums. René Corado closed with
details about the financial needs of the WFVZ, and opportunities
for people to support the organization.
Afterwards, members were invited to watch while
René Corado demonstrated study skin preparation and to
explore the collections while WFVZ staff and volunteers answered
questions.

ABA members peruse the collections.

Bookkeeper Jennifer Brown (foreground) chats with an ABA member
while others watch a
study skin preparation demo.
